Public Health

Welcome to the City-Cowley County Health Department

Hello everyone,

We invite you to watch this short video from CBS Sunday Morning. This segment explains the role of public health in society and examines some of the challenges we face.

July 18, 2022 Update

The Public Health Officer has released a new report regarding the increase in COVID cases within Cowley County. This rise in cases can be attributed to the characteristics of the latest Omicron variant, B.5. With a shorter incubation period and the ability to skirt existing immune response, cases have steadily increased to around 10-15 new cases per day. Though the variant has not overwhelmed critical care facilities.

We encourage any person feeling symptomatic to get tested. The Health Department performs testing on weekday morning and home testing kits are widely available. The protocol for those have become ill has not changed. We advise staying home and recovering fully before returning to normal activities. Avoiding social gatherings and public spaces while ill can help mitigate the spread of illness within the community.

The Health Department continues to monitor the state of the pandemic and will updates and further guidance as the situation evolves.
