Healthy Start Home Visitor Program

Home Visitation Services

The Health Department's Maternal and Child Health Home Visiting program has been active in Cowley County for ten years. Home visitation services are offered to pregnant and postpartum women for twelve months after delivery, free of charge, regardless of race, ethnicity, financial status, or legal residency.

Healthy Start-Home Visitors (HSHV) are mothers trained to visit women in their homes or other agreed locations before and after their pregnancies to guarantee a healthy transition to motherhood and successful infant development. Meet our Home Visitors

Josephine (JoJo) is a Maternal & Child Health Home Visitor, Safe Sleep Instructor, and Certified Car Seat Technician. She serves on several local coalitions and committees (Breastfeeding Advocates of Cowley County (BACC), Child Passenger Safety Committee, Early Literacy Coalition, Ell Community Health Focus Group, and the Cowley County Local Health Equity Action Team.) Her experience as a mother of three and extensive training make her a great asset in assisting women during and after their pregnancies. Jojo looks forward to meeting you and your family and helping you get off to the best start.

Jean is our new Healthy Start Home Visitor. She has held a variety of positions within the Winfield community, including as a property/casualty insurance agent and as a team leader in a multi-specialty clinic. Jean is a mother to four children of various ages. For over 25 years, Jean has operated a childcare center in her home, helping to take care of numerous Cowley children.  Jean has a special fondness for children and an admiration for all things a mother does. She is excited to share some of her own experiences with new mothers embarking on what she describes as "a beautiful and sometimes overwhelming journey."
