Management Information Systems (MIS) provides and maintains computer services for offices in the courthouse, the offices located in Emergency Management in Winfield, the Arkansas City County Attorney’s office, the Noxious Weeds’ office, three Road and Bridge Districts, the Landfill, Memorial Lawn Cemetery, and various other offices within the county.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is well equipped to meet the GIS needs of Cowley County citizens in a variety of ways. Because of our department’s education and experience in computer and geospatial sciences, we can accomplish projects set forth by the county and its people. For example, we maintain databases for the other departments and create maps and illustrations for them per their request for their records, reports, and special projects. We can also evaluate and create maps and posters for citizens per their request for cost. The GIS department is responsible to maintaining, updating, and correcting 911 addresses for the county. We also maintain the database for county roads, voter districts, and aerial photography. We also coordinate with the GIS departments of Winfield and Arkansas City to maintain records of shared features within Cowley County.
Cowley County, in collaboration with the cities of Arkansas City and Winfield, updated the map book for first responders and community partners. The map book includes roads, cemeteries, airports, county landmarks, and other important feature for navigation through out the county.
